CHORAL MUSIC EDUCATOR. COMPOSER. VOCALIST

Written for two-part intermediate choir, "Carry Me Away" invokes the feelings of being weightless- A simple but beautiful piano accompaniment supports the long melodic lines of the voices. When I taught this to my middle school-aged group I used a lot of imagery: floating on a cloud, soaring through the sky, being weightless in space, and being at the top of a roller coaster. We discussed the lyrics and how they might apply to their own life situations: the fear of flying alone, the courage to dream, the will to try, and the desire to achieve.
